The Importance of Your Autonomic Nervous System

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is a complex network of nerves that controls many of the body’s vital functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, digestion, and temperature regulation. It is responsible for regulating these functions automatically, without conscious effort. The autonomic nervous system is divided into two main branches: the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.

The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for the “fight or flight” response, which prepares the body to respond to stressful situations. During this response, the heart rate increases, blood vessels constrict, and breathing becomes faster and shallower. Arrive on time for your appointment.

Please wear loose fitting clothing. Enter our lab at 1730 W Horizon Ridge Pkwy, Ste 100, Henderson, NV 89012 at your appointment time and give your name to our tech. Complete our short questionnaire. Your test will begin shortly.

Testing takes 30 minutes or less.

The lab tech will add some sensors to the skin on various areas of your body and place a blood pressure cuff around your arm. During the test, you may be asked to breathe deeply, stand or place your hands and feet on sensor plates. No needles or blood work required.

Get your results.

One of our physicians will review your results with you and help you understand any findings. If testing reveals any abnormalities, our physician may recommend treatment and/or refer you to a specialist.
