Rapid Female STD Panel (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, & Trichomonas) Testing While You Wait – $199

STD testing is an important part of maintaining one’s sexual health. For females, our STD panel can help detect the presence of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomonas – three of the most common and high transmissible sexually transmitted diseases that can have serious health implications if left untreated.

Our Rapid Female STD Panel (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, & Trichomonas) Test provides results in 15 minutes. The sample for the test is taken from a self-collected vaginal swab.

The symptoms of chlamydia often include:

  • Burning sensations during urination
  • Abdominal pain
  • Unusual vaginal discharge that may have a foul smell.

For those who contract gonorrhea, they may experience similar symptoms such as:

  • Itching
  • Increased vaginal discharge in different colors such as green or yellow
  • Pain when having sexual intercourse.

Finally, those affected with trichomoniasis typically experience:

  • Irritation within their genital area
  • Thin white discharge with an unpleasant odor.

When considering all three of these illnesses together it is important to note that some of the common symptoms can overlap between them including pelvic pain, painful urination and abnormal vaginal discharge.

Additionally many infected individuals don’t show any external signs or symptoms at all meaning that it can go undetected for long periods of time unless tested for specifically.

Why It is Important to Get STD Testing Regularly

It is recommended that individuals who are sexually active should get tested regularly in order to catch any infections early on. Left untreated, these STDs can cause serious complications including:

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Infertility
  • Increased risk of ectopic pregnancy
  • Increased susceptibility to other infections
  • Increased risk of HIV infection.

Therefore, it is essential that females get tested regularly to ensure they have not contracted one or more of these STDs as early detection can often lead to successful treatment with antibiotics and help prevent long-term damage or complications.

What this Rapid STD Panel Test Is

This Rapid Female STD Panel (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, & Trichomonas) Test is a real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test that uses a sample taken from a self-collected vaginal swab for direct qualitative detection and differentiation of the ribonucleic acid (RNA) from chlamydia bacteria, neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria, and trichomonas vaginalis protozoan parasites in symptomatic or asymptomatic female patients.

If this rapid diagnostic test detects the presence of chlamydia bacteria, it means the person is CURRENTLY infected with chlamydia. If this rapid diagnostic test detects the presence of gonorrhea bacteria, it means the person is CURRENTLY infected with gonorrhea. If this rapid diagnostic test detects the presence of trichomonas parasites, it means the person is CURRENTLY infected with trichomonas. Once any of these infections is gone, the viruses will be undetectable, and the test will likely be negative. It is possible for more than one of these tests to be positive.

Chlamydia Testing

Chlamydia bacteria may show up in your system in as little as one day after exposure, but testing should be done at least five days after exposure, preferably two weeks after exposure. Testing for chlamydia less than five to six days after exposure is likely to produce a negative RNA result and does not rule out infection. If you test negative less than two weeks after exposure, it is recommended that you retest after two weeks. If you receive treatment for chlamydia, it is recommended that you retest two weeks after treatment is completed to make sure you are free from infection.

Gonorrhea Testing

The symptoms of gonorrhea may be evident in as little as 24-48 hours from exposure. However, in most cases, it will take two days to two weeks. In some cases, gonorrhea symptoms may not appear for up to 30 days. Gonorrhea bacteria may show up in your system in as little as five days after exposure, but testing is most accurate two weeks after exposure. If you test negatively shortly after exposure, it is recommended that you retest two weeks later. A negative gonorrhea result does not rule out a gonorrhea infection if the test is taken too soon after potential exposure.

Trichomonas Testing

Trichomonas vaginalis parasite causes a trichomoniasis (“trich”) infection. Trichomoniasis does not always present with noticeable symptoms and the incubation period is difficult to predict. It is thought that you may notice symptoms from five days to four weeks after exposure, but many people never exhibit any symptoms and may carry and spread the parasite for months or years. Having trichomoniasis can increase your risk of developing another STI, including HIV, in the future, so it’s important to identify and infection and follow up with treatment.

A positive test is considered very accurate, but it’s possible to be infected and have a negative result. No STD test is 100% accurate. Negative results do not preclude a chlamydia, gonorrhea, or trichomonas infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or prevention. We encourage you to follow CDC guidelines for prevention and test regularly.

This test is only suitable for female humans who are at least 14 years old and able to use a swab to obtain a sample from their own vagina. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We utilize the Visby Medical Sexual Health Click Test. This rapid point-of-care molecular nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) uses multiplex reverse transcription technology.

What this Rapid STD Panel Test Is Not

The test is not intended for humans without vaginas or children less than 14 years old.

This test has not been validated in patients using antiperspirants and deodorants, nor any of the following vaginal products: douches, washes, lubricants, vaginal swabs, vaginal moisturizers or any feminine hygiene product which is spread over the genital area. It is recommended that these products should be avoided during a 48-hour period prior to sample collection for optimal accuracy of results.

This test does not detect other types of trichomoniasis parasites including trichomonas tenax (localized to the oral cavity), pentatrichomonas hominis or dientamoeba fragilis (located in the digestive tract).
